Networking
Computer networking
Key Data
communications Terminology
Session: communication Dialog between network users or applications
Node: A network attached device.
Link: connect adjacent Nodes.
Path: end to end route within anetwork.
Curcuit: The Conduit over which data travels.
Protocol: Set of rules governing communication.
Transmission
Media/Link/Channel
This is
necessary to have pathway OR media to transmitted data from one point to other
point. The term media mean the device that transmits voice or data from a point
to other point.
What is Guided
Media:
In guided
media message flow through physical media like cables
Types of
cables:
(1)-what is Coaxial cable?
Coaxial
cable has copper core {inner conductor} with an outer cylindrical shell for insulation
(2)- what is Twisted Pair Cables?
Twisted pair
wire is most useable wire. Here two types of twisted pair cable are discussed
like shielded and unshielded twisted pair cable.
Shielded twisted
pair short cut is STP. This is consists
of pairsof insulated solid wire surrounded by a braided or corrugated shielded.
Other types of twisted pair cable is unshielded twisted pair shortly we called
UTP this is most frequently useable networking cable.
(3)- what
is Fiber Optic?
Fiber optic
consists of thousands of very thin filament of glass fibers which can conduct
light pulse generated by laser at transmission frequencies that approach the
speed of light. Fiber optic has greater data transmission rate as well as the
great security interference tapping.
What is
Unguided Media or Radiated :--
In Radiated
media message is broadcasting through air like microwave, infrared or satellite
Infra-red: now a days many systems using
infra-red communications. This is commonly a directional infrared light signal
transmitted into air and received nearby devices.
Radio and
Microwave: these are the
signals we think as being television, radio and satellite, but they are now
being put to use in Ethernet wireless and
Bluetooth communications technologies.
Satellites: satellite contains a transponder
consisting of radio transmitter and
receiver. Ground on one side of ocean sends signal to satellite which amplifies
and transmits amplifies signal at different angle than it arrived at to another
ground station on other side of ocean.
Dear student
in the next article we will discuss what is digital signal, what is network
network classification what is LANs WANs Network Topologies RJ45 which devices are used in Networking and
many other things which used in networking and most useable thing in computer
networking in offices
